I would guess that it's related to a minimum API level. 3.4.x is ancient now, isn't supported and quite likely no longer works with the current addon API. You should really consider upgrading to the current stable - 4.0.8, I think, with ...Prof Yaffle

You could use a shortcut to the NFS/SMB share instead of using the TV menu - then you'd get the real directory structure. Otherwise, I don't know if the newest pvr.hts addon offers anything - maybe try negge or ksooo on #hts.Prof Yaffle
