Windows version?
Added by R00 kie over 11 years ago
Mates, tvheadend seems to be the most promising (and stable platform) for XBMC on linux systems, however for some reasons I need to run XBMC on a Windows platform.
I was told that Tvheadend is a PITA on Windows. Is this true?
Thanks

It is if "Linux only" is a PITA
TVH is a linux application, you can run it on a diff box to XBMC ofc, so you could have a box specifically for TVH.

I wouldn't mind running it XBMC on a linux box, however this choice would exclude Windows gaming, for example.
So there's no Windows porting.....

No.
Dual boot? Or get a dedicated XBMC/TVH box?

I was thinking of a HTPC for pictures, videos, music and TV (SAT). Eventually gaming
Things with linux seems a bit tricky, particularly on the driver side. I see the TBS6981 sat receiver is supported, but things could get difficult with the graphics adapter and the soundcard.

Well I've no idea what you've got, but for graphics if its NVIDIA/ATI based you should be fine these days.
I don't remember the last time I had driver issues on Linux, but then to be honest I've always had pretty bog standard machines.

I wonder if there's any possibility of running tvheadend in a VM? Probably get screwed up accessing the cards...
