Feature #832
Identify and mark 'default' audio stream for broadcast
0%
Description
I see an issue when using Tvheadend in combination with XBMC-PVR where the default audio stream is sometimes not the main stream for a channel/program - the stream containing commentary for the hard of sight is chosen for example (resulting in no audio if the program doesn't provide this stream).
The 'normal' stream is available to choose in XBMC, but means lots of manual switching is involved when flicking between channels.
It would be great if Tvheadend can indentify the broadcast's primary stream and mark this as a default which can be passed to the client to handle.
Many Thanks!

How would we know what is the default audio stream? What information is available in the dvb mpeg standard that points to the default audio stream?

Well, I had no idea - so I checked on IRC before creating the ticket (to see if the information is actually broadcast in the first place) and Andreas indicated there was a way to know which stream was 'default'.
I have had a quick google and the ETSI specification for SI on DVB and (EN 300 468) seems to indicate in 'Annex J3' that PMT values are used to indicate main audio, broadcaster mixed audio description etc.
.
As I say, I don't claim to be any expert on this subject, so Andreas may have been referring to something entirely different

Hein, was I barking up the wrong tree looking at Annex J3 - or is this something that looks feasible ?
If it's not that field, I figure there must be some was to tell the default? - since my TV wouldn't start playing the commentary stream when the signal is hooked directly to it's tuner.

- Category set to HTSP
- Status changed from New to Rejected
- Priority changed from Normal to Low
There have been discussion to cover something like this in a more general way, and configurable from clientside. I'm gonna close this for now as we'll create an entry for the more general feature.
