EPG grabber save to disk and failed past autorec recordings

If I enable the EPG feature "Periodically save EPG to disk" and leave the server running for weeks, when I select "autorec" on a tv program that was also transmitted in the past weeks, new recordings are added to DVR Upcoming/Current recordings, BUT I also find all PAST episodes of the series added under DVR "Failed recordings" with "time missed" status.
While the fact that the "time missed" for past episode is technically correct, I think it would be better to just "ignore past episodes" from the saved EPG file when adding a new autorec series, or add a checkbox to enable/disable the feature (if not considered a bug).
Another thing about the saved EPG file is that, when I use programs like TVHClient it looks like the whole EPG file (also past) is sent to the client so you see all the program titles pass on the client EPG guide until it is synchronized to the current listing.
I think a feature like "refresh EPG file every ..." or something like that would be useful in these situations, because it looks like a lot of old data is (unnecessarily?) retained in the EPG file and causes these issues.
