It's implemented behaviour. The duplicates are eliminated at the "record" time. I'm not saying that it's perfect.

Hi, I did the rewrite of the dup-detecting recording.

The point is that a duplicate can only be detected at the real point of intended recording of the duplicate. Duplicate detecting in advance cannot work since it might be that the "master" recording fails later and then the omitted "duplicate" would be needed to step in on behalf of the "master" recording. So, if "virtual" duplicates would have been filtered out in advance, you might loose recordings.

Virtual duplicates in the "upcoming recordings" view are marked with "Will be skipped because is rerun of:...". I would propose, that we find a way to "grey out" virtual duplicates in the view?

You also need to enable the "rerun of" column in the upcoming recordings view. All recordings with "rerun of" will be skipped if the "master" was recorded.
