Description

I have 6 tuners (2 terrestrial, 4 satellite) in my PC spread across two tuner cards. IMHO, I can't see an occasion where I'd ever need to configure a tuner on either card to be different from another tuner on the same card. Hence, it's quite surprising that tvheadend has no way to "auto-mirror" any tuner configuration changes across multiple tuners on the same card. Yes, there's the ability to copy multiplexes between tuners (which drags the channel settings too), but that's not obvious and a bit clumsy to be honest.

First of all, there'd have to be a new Adapter configuration checkbox in Configuration -> TV Adapters -> General which would say something like "Config mirrored to other tuners on same adapter" and with the option enabled by default. When it's enabled, perhaps " (mirrored)" is appended to the Adapter name in the pop-up menu? Of course, turning the option on or off on one tuner should turn it on or off identically on all the other tuners on the same card.

Secondly, any operation that affects a tuner on any card would identically change the config on all the other tuners on the same card. There might be an issue about the scanning though - this may still have to be done per tuner to get individual signal strengths for example.

Thirdly, if the option is disabled later on for a tuner (and hence on all other tuners on the same card too), then the first tuner on that card to get it re-enabled later on should have its config at the time sent to the remaining tuners on the same card.

This will automatically happen when we re-structure the DVB code, as that is part of the reasoning for the change. So going to close this one.
