There has been talk about how to do this, its just a bit problematic to be able to scan. Though short term I was going to create a script to parse the M3U playlist files that some people seem to be using.

I'm closing this, I don't think a "scan" is likely to work. No idea how we'd really go about implementing it. But if anyone has any smart ideas and wants to volunteer some code I'd be happy to integrate.
