Finger prints
Added by Mezo Waf almost 11 years ago
Hi all
I want to ask you if there is a solution for the Finger prints that some channel providers broadcast at the screen showing the receiver's number and information.
I read that Tv headend skip the Ads.
Is there a solution to detect it and cancel it or delete it and not show it?
Regards
Mezo

You mean the graphic identity/channel identified/DOG/Digitally Originated Graphic? Very difficult, if not impossible. It's part of the image - it'd be like airbrushing your aunt out of a photo.
I found an application a few years ago that could blur the image, but it's massively slow as it needs to uncompress the whole file into individual frames, process each one and then recompress. And I don't remember it being very successful either. And even if it were, it can't create part of the image that's missing, so if you have trailers for the next programme across the bottom of the screen (as do many prime-time US TV shows) there's simply no way of resconstructing the part of the image that's been "obscured".

Sorry, I'm still not completely following. If you want to cut out the broadcast between the "receiver identity" - so skip over adverts/commercials - then tvheadend can't do that automatically. The one exception may be for the following (from the help text):
Skip commercials If checked, commercials will be dropped from the recordings. At the moment, commercial detection only works for the swedish channel TV4.
However, there is a version of comskip for Linux that you could look at - I don't know what you're running tvheadend on or how long comskip would take, but you could make use it as part of a post-processing command. This won't skip commercials in live TV (obviously) or when playing back via e.g. the XBMC PVR addon - only when using a client like XBMC or mplayer to open the native recorded file (.ts or .mkv).

If I've still misunderstood you then my apologies, happy to try again!
