E350 enough?

Added by Faz Tac almost 11 years ago

Hello, first of all thanks for creating this beautiful software... I'm planning to build a pvr and I was wondering if an Amd e350 was enough for recording and descrambling four satellite channels at the same time and using it also for watching some HD videos or live tv at the same time (I don't want to have a frontend and a backend, I would like to keep everything on the same htpc). Would it have enough power to do all those things together?
Thanks for the help

My TVH (/NAS) server is based on an E350. It's got 4xS2 + 2xT2. I did some testing, just for the hell of it, and I think it tops out at descrambling 8/9 HD channels. So as a backend it'll be fine. No idea about as a frontend, really depends on which one you get I guess, and not really my area.

However if its a decent one with decent graphics, the above should give some idea of the power you will have spare for playback.

I'm planning to use xbmc with vdpau... I hope it will be enough. I was wondering if I should post the question also on the xbmc forum. Maybe they'll know better.
Another little question, what is the timeshift status now? I looked around and everyone seems to have a different situation... Is there a combination that works better? Thank you very much another time
