No Signal on some muxes
Added by Magnus Ottosson over 11 years ago
Hi,
I'm having a problem that some muxes don't get any signal. In the multiplexes tab of tvheadend some muxes get no signal on the Frontend status column.
My setup consist of Anysee E7 S2 connected to a diseq switch where I can recieve Sirius (port 0) and Thor (port 1). On mux on the thor sattelite I get NO SIGNAL for is 11,785.000khz 30000kBaud at the same time I get OK signal for 11,412.000khz 24500kBaud.
I have tried and connect the same antenna cable to a dedicated box and there it works perfectly. How come tvheadend does not work on some muxes?

Could it be that there is a problem with the Anysee E7 S2? I get perfect picture on my original canal digital box and no signal issues. TVHeadendd is reporting no signal and 0 quality for the same mux...

I would really appreciate if someone could help me with this

Have you tried disabling signal monitoring? This has been known to fail and then cause muxes to be ignored.

Yes, I have tried that. Do I need to reset or do anything else after I disable signal quality?
The muxes that are not working get autoadded if I remove them and the services are found but I can not watch the channels because of no signal.

Could it be that I need to adjust my dish? Some other muxes on the same lnb are working perfectly and the same muxes at the canal digital box are working great and reporting good signal quality and strength. But maybe the Anysee E7 tuner is more sensitive?

I'd say that if some muxes on same LNB/switchport etc.. are working, and non-working work fine on a STB, I'd probably go with an issue with the PC tuner. The do sometimes have lower quality tuners in them, though I'd be surprised if the difference is that big.

I think that I might have one thing that could be causing problems. I have two muxes with no signal for canal digital nordic. 12,015.000khz and 11,785.000khz. Both of these muxes are defined as 66.8mbps bandwidth while all the other muxes are 39.5mbps - 55.7mbps. I read in another forum that some chipsets are limited to 60mbps. Could this be the problem? Can you recommend a good dvb-s2 usb tuner that works well with tvheadend?

This is a known driver problem and can be solved by applying the patch described here:
http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post/stv0900_core.c-patch-5481028?highlight=stv0900
You only need the Pendragon/Cletus2k FIFO patch (as described in the thread)
After applying the patch manually (only the TSFIFO MANSPEED lines) on Ubuntu 13.04 with s2-liplianin-v39, I can recieve all Canal Digital HD channels on 12,015.000khz and 11,785.000khz without any glitches.
I have only been running my Anysee E7 S2 with the patched driver for a day, so I don't know if the patch has any serious side effects...
Good luck with the patching and compiling, it is actually quite fun :-)

Hi,
Thanks for the fix. I tried to apply the patch and install s2-liplianin-v39 but I still get the same issues. Not sure if I applied the patch correctly, I pulled the source from the mercurial repo and applied this patch: http://jowski.no-ip.com:3000/correctly-made-stv0900_core.c.patch.1.txt
Did you apply the patch against the source? Maybe you can send me your patched file? After the patch is applied all I have to do is make and make install as sudo?

Seem like s2-liplianin-v39 is buiding against /lib/modules/3.8.0-26-generic for some reason while my ubuntu installation is running 3.8.0-27-generic so I guess that the drivers are installer in the wrong place. How to fix this? I also tried to manually copy the stv0900.ko to the right dir but it seems like that did not help either.

Seems like manually copying the .ko file worked because today it is working! Thanks for the tip about the patch!
