0% signal after update to raring

Added by Michael Winkel over 11 years ago

I just upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring) on 2 separate boxes.

Both were running from the old repo, so when i updated to raring i also switched to the new repo.

After the update however both machines show 0% signal. They both see the tuner (different tuners) but 0% signal on all muxes.

The one box is using a HDHomerun (which couldnt compile on raring because of missing kernel headers). I copied the headers from and old install and i could compile but got the 0% signal. Thought it was because of the compile issues so tried on another box which has a "TerraTec Cinergy HTC USB XS HD" tuner. No problems upgrading, but I'm getting the same 0% signal problems.

I checked cabling and it s fine (was working before upgrade so I expected this, but thought I'd better double check before posting here).

I have tried with first the stable repo and then the unstable without luck.

Some debug log when trying to play a channel through VLC standalone client:

Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong?
Anyone else who has upgraded to raring with success?

Try disabling the signal monitoring stuff its been known to cause problems
on some setups.

RE: 0% signal after update to raring - Added by Michael Winkel over 11 years ago

It was off from the start and is off again now. Same issue.

I only enabled it to give more debug.

I just did a complete reinstall of the stable version and its the same aswell :(

Do you know of anyone running TVheadend succefully on 13.04?

RE: 0% signal after update to raring - Added by Alfred Zastrow over 11 years ago

Yes, my tvheadend is running on raring server. On the 1st days with the quantal package and since the ga2ccbb2-version with the native package.
No probs @ all, but because of my sat card (DVBSky S952 ~ Dual DVB-S/S2 PCIe) I've compiled my own kernel.

Based on what kernel version?

RE: 0% signal after update to raring - Added by Alfred Zastrow over 11 years ago

3.8.8 - following this scheme:

btw: app-armor is deinstalled

RE: 0% signal after update to raring - Added by Michael Winkel over 11 years ago

Update: There seems to be a problem with the current Ubuntu kernel.

On the HDHomerun setup I downloaded and compiled the 3.8.11 kernel from kernel.org and then i could install the HDHomerun drivers correctly and tvheadend was working.

The USB tuner setup it still isn't working. However that is a remote setup and I have to go check whether some cables have fallen out or something while troubleshooting.
