Tvheadend on Synology
Added by Han Joosten over 11 years ago
Hi guys,
I have some problems here and hope someone can help me out.
Some time ago I installed Oscam on my Synology and used it with a smargo card reader for inhouse card sharing. Now i found Tvheadend and installed it as well on my synology. It even connects to oscam easily.
However when I connected an USB sat receiver. (Skystar USB HD) i get stocked.
I tried a lot but the receiver does not show up in "TV adapters".
I searched the net but could not find a solution that works. I tried a lot of stuff found with google but no luck so far.
I hope someone can help me out or point me in the proper direction.
best regards, Han

I can't promise that your tuner is supported on Synology - they're still in the early days of implementing TV support, so there aren't many approved tuners (although many work unofficially).
One thing to check: are you starting Video Station beforehand? tvheadend needs that because it's the Synology package that loads the kernel modules needed for tuner support - without that, you won't get anything from anything...

Hi Prof Yaffle,
You are of a great help and now it is working. This is what I did
- Installed video station as you said
- It was still not working then but with dmesg i saw that the firmware file was not found.
- I downloaded the firmware and copied to the firmware folder on the nas
- Restarted the NAS and all was ok.
thanks man.......

i guess you need to install the driver as well

you need to logon via telnet and check with dmesg the feedback of the nas. I gues it will say something like driver missing.
Copy the name of driver in google, dowload it, copy it the position on the nas for driversm reboot and all should work
regards, han

Hi,
I also try to get the Skystar USB HD working on my Synology NAS (213j). Video Station is working so far. But when I try to select a TV Adapter under "Configuration->DVB Inputs" the drop down box remains empty.
Is there anything else I have to do?
