Unplugged tuner still shown in TVHeadend
Added by Kevin Bell over 11 years ago
Hi,
I'm running TVHeadend on Ubuntu 12.10 as my backend.
I have one Hauppauge TVB-T tuner which works well, I bought a cheap Hauppauge dual tuner - which would give me three in total - but keep getting a No Input Detected error in XBMC.
To test this and see if all tuners are working, I've unplugged one - but after a reboot, all three tuners are still visible in TVHeadend and Kaffine - though obviously, one doesn't actually work.
How to I get Ubuntu to detect that one of the tuners has been unplugged and show the proper amount of tuners in TVHeadend or Kaffine.
Cheers.

TVH retains configuration for all adapters, so they will still show in the adapter list. However you can tell they're not really there because in the little status box on the right there will be no device path.
I admit this can be confusing and it might be worth hiding unavailable adapters, but there are a couple of use cases where these need to be present (mainly testing related).

Adam,
Thanks for the reply.
I wanted to unplug one of the tuners as I keep getting tuner 'No input detected' errors.
When I had one tuner everything worked fine, I then added another dual tuner (a cheap one from Ebay) and when watching one channel everything works correctly, but when I try to watch a second channel I get the error.
Is there any way in TVH that I can disable a tuner or force a certain channel only through one tuner? That way I can check the new tuner is working properly.
Cheers.

if the tuner is not physically there it will not be used. The entry in the config is merely for information (about what was there).
