transcoding branch

Added by Peter Vágner over 11 years ago

Hello,
I was happily using John Tormblon's transcoding v2 branch. Now I have realized for some strange reason I am unable to watch a non-transcoded channel using any player on the local machine over http and at that same time watch the same channel on a mobile device using tvhguide with transcoding enabled.
Also I haven't seen updates to the transcoding branch for quite some time. Has this been merged already or is the development going on elsewhere? I only understand now the master branch also requires libav.
Has anyone seen this issue already?
I am unable to find some recent postings regarding transcoding in the forums now.
What can you recommend me to instal if I am targetting transcoding? I understand it may not be perfectly stable yet but still I think it is verry useable because I am using it occassionally for some 6 months now.

John is still not happy with the transcoding branch and has been reluctant to merge. He's also been very busy in the real world and so unable to devote much time to it, though I think he actually has plans to use a completely different library in the future.

It will happen, its just a question of when.

okay, the issue with multiple clients I reported must have been a network problem or something random as we were watching one channel on two independent clients last night for approx. two hours and different channels on each client for another two hours without a hickup.
One of those clients was totem on a local machine another one was tvhguide running on Samsung galaxy S II GTI9100 with CM-10.
All is well and I am looking forward to the future updates.
I apologize for the false alarm.
