Upgraded to 3.2.18 but my about page still says 3.1.686
Added by Simon Thomas almost 12 years ago
Sorry if this is something simple that I've missed but I'm simply installing/upgrading using apt-get via the official ppa
The install says 3.2.18 and when I look at policy ( sudo apt-cache policy tvheadend ) it says 3.2.18 but my about page says 3.1.686.g50d10
Am I missing something ?
My system is Ubuntu and it's all running fine ( as it has been for along time :-) )
Oh thanks for the great software BTW

How did you install 3.2.18? the pre-packaged deb? From source?
And what about the pre-release?
It sounds to me like you might actually have 2 versions installed.

Originally I installed from downloading from git and building my own ( thats a while ago ) then I add the beta PPA and installed via apt-get. This has got me to 3.1.686 I think.
Then today I added back the original PPA and did an apt-get upgrade and that seems to install 3.2.18
How would I check what is installed ?
Thanks

Check you don't have a version installed in /usr/local/bin/ (from your own installs - if you used "make install" its quite probable).
You can check the version of each binary:
/usr/bin/tvheadend -h
If you have got 2 copies installed just remove the binary in /usr/local/bin and make sure you don't also have an init script lying around that's referencing that.

I did have the binary in /usr/local/bin so I've removed that and install as now stopped working :-)
I'm not sure how to check for an init script
The install from apt-get goes to /usr/share/tvheadend but my old install was in /usr/local/share/tvheadend. My server is still using the old location which I assume is from the init script ?
Thanks for your help

OK, I assumed the files in /usr/local/share/tvheadend were from the old install and needed removing so I'd renamed the folder but now I I've renamed it back everything is working again so I assume I need both of these folders.
Any, the problem was clearly the binary in the bin folder which I've remove now and I'm running the latest version
Thanks for great support and brilliant products
