Webgui not showing
Added by ruud - about 12 years ago
Hi,
first of: congratulations on the release of version 3.2, looking at the change log I can see that a lot of work and effort has been put in there!
As a long time user of tvheadend on my clearos (5.2) server, I am in the process of upgrading tvheadend.
Unfortunately I am running into some problems with which I need some help troubleshooting.
I have downloaded the 3.2 sourcecode and did a ./configure and make followed by a make install on my test server
No errors showing during compilation, so far so good!
when I start tvheadend with the following parameters (tvheadend -u root -C -f -s -d) I get the output below in my syslog:
Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: charset: 59 entries loaded Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epggrab: module eit created Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epggrab: module uk_freesat created Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epggrab: module uk_freeview created Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epggrab: module opentv-ausat created Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epggrab: module opentv-skyuk created Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epggrab: module opentv-skyit created Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epggrab: module pyepg created Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epggrab: module xmltv created Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epgdb: loaded v2 Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epgdb: channels 0 Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epgdb: brands 0 Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epgdb: seasons 0 Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epgdb: episodes 0 Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: epgdb: broadcasts 0 Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: dvr: Creating new configuration '' Nov 1 12:57:41 development tvheadend[4355]: dvr: Output directory for video recording is not yet configured for DVR configuration "". Defaulting to to "/root". This can be changed from the web user interface. Still looking good to me
But....
when in Firefox browsing to: [ip]:9981
my tab renames to [HTS TvHeadend 3.1.694], my url changes to [ip]:9981/extjs.html, but my browser in the status bar keeps saying 'transferring data from [ip]' an my page stays empty.... the webui is not displaying not at all???
When I copy the resulting tvheadend executable over to my production server, the service starts as expected, XBMC (PVR plugin) connects and shows TV programmes, but also here the webui is not working (same behaviour)
As I am not seeing any error messages and the service seems to running okay I am a little bit lost
Hope somebody can help and give me some pointers
thanks in advance,
Ruud.

Can you try another browser. We did several UI updates and unfortunately some of them have been done by myself (most of which broke various browsers!). We've tried to sort the mess out as much as possible but we are still finding that some browsers are having trouble. But its a bit random browser X will work fine for one user and not another which makes tracking down all the problem a PITA.
If other browsers also experience the same problem then it could be something more fundamental wrong with your setup.

Hi Adam,
Thanks for your quick reply.
I tried it on chome, IE9 and safari (all work) and on my android tablet with browser which also works.
So problem lies in combination with FF 16.0.2 (which is the default browser in ubuntu :))
Is there something I can do to help in this?
regards,
Ruud.

There are some comments about FF15 and 16 here: https://www.lonelycoder.com/redmine/issues/1177
Any help in figuring out what the problems are are greatly appreciated, but I've not had any time to get involved in the problem myself (even if I might have been responsible for some of the breakages).

workaround: Webgui not showing in FF - Added by ruud - about 12 years ago
Hi,
totally missed that althought I did search :(
what I noticed is that when I open the webgui (which doesn't work) and simultaneously open a second tab in Firefox and in this tab also open the webgui, the second tab displays the webgui instantly!
So this is a workaround and maybe a pointer as to where to search?
regards,
Ruud.
