TVHeadend not finding Services, 100% Mux Signaling quality
Added by David Fleming about 12 years ago
Hello,
Ok so im trying to setup TVHeadend with the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950Q TV Tuner, i can get 100% signal quality with the US Cable Mid range DVB network location, however, im am not finding any services. I have tried all the DVB Network types that relate to cable and still nothing. Using the Win7 software, that came with the device, on my PC i can get all the SD channels just fine (dont know how to get the HD ones but i dont really care). I was thinking i could get the channel info off of it but i have no idea where it is keeping it. did try MythTV before but it was refusing to change the Tunner to ClearQAM and just was using the ATSC. Any ideas on what may be the problem?? I have Google searched like crazy but turned up no results.
Using Build 3.0
Thanks

I had this at first on the Raspberry Pi and for me it helped to turn off all options apart from autodetect Muxes, then create an initial Mux ba hand and let it run.
Maybe this is worth a try for you. The option that stalled everything on my setup was Idel Scanning I think...
Also, try updating to 3.3 since that makes a lot of things smoother.

Im going to try again after updating. for some reason it wont let me manually add muxes, the menu doesn't show up, maybe the update will fix that.
How is the Pi handling TvHeadend?? im using the Pi as the front end with RaspBMC (XBMC), but im running the TvHeadend server on another computer, did not want to overload the pi.
Thanks

ok so i have some good news and some bad news, after updating to build 3.1.743~g7687dd4 (cant seem to find 3.3 like you said) i can get some channels with the basic auto map, heres the bad news, it doesnt want to keep all the channels. it is finding more channels, other then the 9 that it has right now, but it will drop them, for example, i will have Net Geo then it will go away and ESPN will show up, then it will flip again. I dont know why this is happening. when i manually add a mux the window opens up but it is not providing me with any where to put in info, all it has is a button that says add (when i click it nothing happens, it just closes the window).
any thoughts??
Thanks
EDIT:
Ok so after testing with XBMC as a frontend, it was working for about 5 minutes then as i change channels it started having problems
Errors started as:
Oct 08 15:13:20 TS: Auvitek AU8522 QAM/8VSB Frontend/501,000 kHz: AC3 @ #52: Continuity counter error
Oct 08 15:13:35 TS: Auvitek AU8522 QAM/8VSB Frontend/501,000 kHz: Transport error indicator
Oct 08 15:13:35 TS: Auvitek AU8522 QAM/8VSB Frontend/501,000 kHz: MPEG2VIDEO @ #51: Continuity counter error
Oct 08 15:13:46 TS: Auvitek AU8522 QAM/8VSB Frontend/501,000 kHz: Transport error indicator
Oct 08 15:13:46 TS: Auvitek AU8522 QAM/8VSB Frontend/501,000 kHz: MPEG2VIDEO @ #51: Continuity counter error
Then Turned in to:
Oct 08 15:14:38 TS: Auvitek AU8522 QAM/8VSB Frontend/501,000 kHz: AC3 @ #52: Continuity counter error
Oct 08 15:14:45 TS: Auvitek AU8522 QAM/8VSB Frontend/501,000 kHz: Transport error indicator, 43 duplicate log lines suppressed
Oct 08 15:14:45 TS: Auvitek AU8522 QAM/8VSB Frontend/501,000 kHz: MPEG2VIDEO @ #51: Continuity counter error, 11 duplicate log lines suppressed
Oct 08 15:14:48 TS: Auvitek AU8522 QAM/8VSB Frontend/501,000 kHz: Transport error indicator, 72 duplicate log lines suppressed

Oct 08 15:14:48 TS: Auvitek AU8522 QAM/8VSB Frontend/501,000 kHz: MPEG2VIDEO @ #51: Corrupted PES header
This went on with XBMC frozen and the video looping until i pull the plug on XBMC (which froze after restarting with a PVR Plug in error, Plug in not found)
Also i still have Idle mux scanning and it has found a few more channels, however, it is now not wanting to map channels, all i have is Net Geo (though it thinks it Disc.), with all of the previous mapped gone even with the service still there. Googling showing that the Idle mux scanning might be the culprit for the freezing and the errors. but i cant test it right now.
Thanks again

Really not sure, very odd. I can't think what would cause the service/channel list to spontaneously change. It could possibly be caused by receiving info from 2 different DVB networks on the same adapter. But since you're using cable I wouldn't expect that to happen.
Try turning on debugging and see whether it outputs anything useful.

Ok so mapping the channels again is working now, no idea why, i was wondering is there a way to force it to run the initial scan again?? maybe it will pick up the ones it skipped before.
I will run it in debug mode when i get the chance, im writing this between classes.
Thanks
