Signal quality slowly decreasing
Added by Martijn de Munnik almost 13 years ago
Hi,
I'm trying to use tvheadend with the dutch Digitenne network (dvb-t). I've got 4 tuners in my pc (3 x DiBcom 3000MC/P, 1 x Philips TDA10046H) and they are connected to a Glomex Panorama antenna. I used professional cables and a professional splitter but unfortunately I'm not able to get a good signal quality. When I restart tvheadend and attach the antenna I got 100% signal quality almost everywhere. But after some minutes the signal quality start to decrease and most mulitplexes get below 30% signal quality. I tried to attach only one tuner to the antenna but this doesn't make any difference. I am sure the signal quality should be quiet good. I'm currently in Nijmegen on the river Waal with a clear view around the boat.
Any ideas?
thanks,
Martijn

Probably a driver issue. Did you disable the monitor signal quality option? If the quality is good at the start the it will be okee, but some how your drivers/hardware is reporting that itgets worse.
So try this and see what happens.

Indeed,I can confirm what Hein says with Dibcom7000 receiver :I had a similar problem : DibCom7000 ,Digitenne, decreasing signal quality.
Switching off "monitor signal quality" solved it for me.
Also i noticed that for Digitenne it is best to add your specific muxes manually (instead of using the build-in function)

This helped my with same issue, with Afatech AF9013 adapter.
Thanks

Hi,
After I added all the muxes and the adapter scanned them all, I removed all the muxes which didn't have a muxid. All adapter now have the same 5 muxes. I also disabled the option "Monitor signal quality" on all cards. Still my recordings are with a lot of glitches. I enabled debug output in the logging for a sort amount of time. Does anyone know why the transport errors occur?

Hi Martijn,
I had similar errors (continuity errors with glitches) when watching without enough bandwidth; (Watching via WiFi might not be good enough if you have a few Mb/s per channel...)
Maybe two checks:
LAN
- Are you watching on the same machine that TV headend is installed on ? This would be a good check if your LAN network plays a role.
Signal
- Did you check your antenna-configuration on a regular digitenne-tuner? Although the signal in your area should be good, having many splitters will reduce the amount of signal significantly. Is the antenna in a good spot ?
NB: To determine if you have the right muxes for digitenne in your area you can look here ( but it looks ok as far as i can see right now):
http://radio-tv-nederland.nl/dvbt/digitenne-kpntv.html
Alex.
Ps In the end I added the muxes manually, starting with the Free-to-air mux with NL 1,2,3 to check if all works ok.

When I enable debug I get a lot of these lines too, I don't know what they mean?

I have the same issue, and disabling the monitoring signal does not help.
My Tv-Card: Philips TDA-10023 DVB-C
Anyone other ideas?
