Somthing is going wrong with the frequencies ... (?)

Added by Jörg Bauer almost 13 years ago

Hello all,

this is my first post :-)

I had installed TV-Headend before 2 years and it was working good. Then I had to move and didn't had a dish anymore ... :-( But now this changed ;-)

I compiled the latest GIT Version, configured, STB Card is ok, but I have these error:

[ERROR]:dvb: "/dev/dvb/adapter0" tuning to "10,744,000 kHz Horizontal (Astra)" -- Front configuration failed -- Invalid argument, frequency: 994000

I added the mux manually, but it's the same problem if I do it by "add DVB Network by location".

Why does it say "frequency: 994000" when I entered "10744000" manually (thats what is also displayed on the beginning of the error line)?

Any help is appreciated, thank you very much.

Cheers.

Did you start with a completely clean .hts directory?

Yes, I installed from scratch. The scan utility is scanning allright.

Can you run a test with the debuglog enabled. Then we you can see what commands it wants to give to the frontend I hope.

You mean ./tvheadend -C -d ?

Thats what happens:

./tvheadend -C -d
[INFO]:dvb: Found adapter /dev/dvb/adapter0 (STB0899 Multistandard) via PCI
[INFO]:dvr: Creating new configuration ''
[WARNING]:dvr: Output directory for video recording is not yet configured for DVR configuration "". Defaulting to to "/root". This can be changed from the web user interface.
[INFO]:CSA: Using SSE2 128bit parallel descrambling
[NOTICE]:START: HTS Tvheadend version git-d66746c started, running as PID:455 UID:0 GID:0, settings located in '/root/.hts/tvheadend'
[DEBUG]:dvb: "/dev/dvb/adapter0" tuning via s2api to "10,744,000 kHz Horizontal (Astra)" (994000, 22000000 Baud, 5/6, SYS_DVBS, QPSK)
[ERROR]:dvb: "/dev/dvb/adapter0" tuning to "10,744,000 kHz Horizontal (Astra)" -- Front configuration failed -- Invalid argument, frequency: 994000

Thanks!

The frequency '994000' is the intermediate frequency between the LNB and the DVB adapter so I believe that is in order.

'Invalid argument' does not necessarily mean that the frequency is incorrect but it can also be any of the other parameters.

I guess back in the days you used Tvheadend it didn't have S2 support?

RE: Somthing is going wrong with the frequencies ... (?) - Added by Jörg Bauer almost 13 years ago

Yeah, thats right, no S2 ;-)

Any ideas how I can debug this? Any way to raise the debug level?

Thank you!

I don't know if I have the same problem, but I though I mention it.....

I have not been able to do any channel scans for DVB-S2 adapters on Ubuntu 11.10 at all (it simply won't find any channels on the DVB-S/S2 adapters).

DVB-T works fine though.

Using the exact same installation on ubuntu 11.04 (or earlier) works without a problem.
I have tested with the tvheadend package available on this site, the package by Lars Opdenkamp and also to compile from source (both the git-repo here, and the one with transcoding).

I think this might be a problem with all kernel 3.x based dists (?).

Installing ubuntu 11.04 doing the SCAN there, taring the hts user directory, installing 11.10, untaring the hts user will make tvheadend work, but I don't think it's a very practical way to scan for new channels :-)

Hi Bable Fish,

are you getting the same errors?

I forgott to mention that I'm trying to get it to work in an OpenVZ machine. Based on proxmox (Linux proxmox 2.6.32-6-pve #1 SMP Mon Sep 26 06:32:53 CEST 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux).

The DVB adaptars are ok, as I said, I can scan with the "scan" utility inside the virtual machine.

Cheers.

No, I don't get the same error, but I can also scan with the scan utility and for me both DVB-T and DVB-T2 adapters work fine.
