Use mms-streams as input for tvheadend?
Added by Alex . almost 13 years ago
Hi,
I just started using tvheadend and I really like it ! Works like a charm for dvb-t so far.
However, now I want to add mms-streams:
Is it possible to use mms-streams as input for tvheadend? I tried using the IPTV-settings but I cannot see how to do it; also, I could not find much documentation.
Thanks for any advise on where to look...
Lex.

mms streams are not supported by tvheadend. At the moment only RTP IPTV streams are supported.
There are some pointers in the forums on how to use/configure those.

Ok , thanks for your reply.
I'll look around to see if there is a workaround ( like transforming the stream or creating a virtual adaptor if that is possible ...)

Or use vlc to transform the mms stream to a rtp stream, but i am not sure if the resulting stream can work with tvheadend

Hi,
Thanks again for your reply; I didn't have time to try until last weekend.
I do manage to transform the mms streams to rtp using VLC
The streaming does work, and I can play the stream using another VLC-client using :
rtp://192.168.0.40:5004
However (as you already warned) the resulting stream is not detected by tvheadend.
- Is there something in the settings that I could/should change? I now just use (in tvheadend) : interface = eth0, UDP port 5004, group =:: .
- Also, there are various codecs that can be used in VLC when creating the streams;
Is there an overview of the specs an RTP-stream should meet for it to be detected by tvheadend?
Thanks,
Lex.
