EPG: several 'data completion timeout' errors
Added by M. Bergmann about 7 years ago
I am using TvH together with the Satip-Receiver Telestar Digibit R1 (original firmware).
The log file of my NAS-server shows several entries created by TvH, telling me something about 'data completion timeout' errors. This entries repeat for several hours (at least three hours in this example, the pictures just shows a few minutes).
Are these warnings normal? And is it normal, that fetching the EPG data OTA takes several hours?

This is normal, each grabber (by default) will timeout after 600 seconds (10 minutes) if no data is found.
Turn off the grabbers you're not using, in your case "UK: Freesat".
You'll still get these notices for the others, however they should complete much faster, they're also ran when scheduled or a service is tuned.

Well, I don't know... It seems to me as if the epg data are not fetched correctly.

Just a note, the correct epggrab shutdown sequence should be like:
@2014-11-21 11:19:45.000 [ DEBUG] epggrab: grab done for 235.10.10.16 in Tralala (timeout) 2014-11-21 11:19:45.000 [WARNING] epggrab: EIT: DVB Grabber - data completion timeout for 235.10.10.16 in Tralala 2014-11-21 11:19:45.000 [ INFO] subscription: 0002: "epggrab" unsubscribing 2014-11-21 11:19:45.000 [ DEBUG] mpegts: 235.10.10.16 in Tralala - stopping mux 2014-11-21 11:19:45.000 [ TRACE] mpegts: IPTV - flush subscribers 2014-11-21 11:19:45.000 [ TRACE] mpegts: 235.10.10.16 in Tralala - flush tables@... not only one "unsubscribe" line...
but I can't find anything like this within the log.
(beside the OTA EPG I also use offline epg-data getting with xmltv, so I don't know from which source the displayed data comes from)

You need to setup the debug/trace options, and setup a log to see that kind of output, see the Debugging tab in tvh.

Well, logging the subsystems 'EPG', 'satip', 'epggrab' and 'mpegts' as far as I am able to judge it, everything seems to be fine.
BTW: TvH found 114 muxes but just 35 of them are actually assigned to one or more channels.
- I imagine that EPG data is just getting EPG data for the 35 muxes in use and not for all 114 ?
- the option "EPG scan time-out in seconds" refers to ONE Mux ? Given the default value of 10 minutes and 35 muxes this could extend the EGP grabbing to 350 minutes (nearly 6 hours) daily, is this right?
