Tuning 2 channels from 1 mux with 1 tuner???
Added by bryan chicken about 13 years ago
Sorry if this information is available somewhere but i've been unable to find it
If 2 dvb-t(2) channels are broadcast on the same mux is tvheadend able to record 2 channels using just 1 tuner?
I believe mediaportal and nbpvr on windows have this functionality.
In the UK the 4-5 dvb-t2 HD channels are all broadcast on the same mux. If i can record 2 or watch 1+record 1 with just a single tuner then i can save myself a few bob and just get a single.
Thanks for your help.

Yes, TVheadend can do what you want from a recording perspective. Not 100% sure from watching live tv, but I suspect that also works from multiple clients want to watch different channels on the same mux.

Brill, thanks very much Hein.
Hopefully that means i'll be able to watch 1+record1 or record 2 HD channels at the same time using xbmc-pvr but only have 1 dvb-t2 tuner.
Cheers

You can even record all 5 channels at the same time if your hardware has enough power to handle that. Or even more ... If you record 2 programs that follow each other and you have overlap between them you could reach even higher parallel recordings.
