EPG data for CNN International, BBC World News etc. ?
Added by M. Bergmann about 8 years ago
- OTA: EIT: DVB-Grabber
- OTA: UK: Freesat
- OTA: UK: Freeview
- BBC World News
- CNN International
- Canal 24 horas
- CNBC Europe
- EuroNews
- France 24
- TVE Internacional
DVDViewer, accessing the same SAT-IP-Device, gets the data for all of these channels.
What do I have to change to get the data within TVHeadend ? Or is it just, that TVH doesn't like news channels ?

Tvheadend does not merge EPG data like it used to. Make sure that you give the grabber that provides the data for the channels top priority - You may need to enable the other grabbers as well.
If that doesn't solve it you can open an issue (include a mux sample).

To complete the missing EPG data I installed successfully an internal grabber (/usr/bin/tv_grab/file), which is feed by an xmltv-file created by Webgrab.
This solution worked fine for a couple of days. Today I generated a new xmltv-file with Webgrab and selected "Re-run Internal EPG-Grabbers". The information about CNN, Canal 24 horas etc. did not appear, so I re-ran the internal-grabber two or three times within 5 minutes. Probably this was a bad idea..
At least I don't have got any EPG data at the moment and even worser, whenever I select the tab 'EPG Grabber Channels' or the tab 'EPG Grabber' the main window gets empty. It doesn't show anything, but a white-grey background. And this does not only concern the EPG-tabs, but all tabs ! (General, Users, DVB Inputs etc.)
The only way to get the content back to screen is a restart of tvheadend.
I deleted epgdb.v2 without success.
What happended here ?
BTW: What is this file called "@tvh:tcp-start.core", as its size is 466.563.072 ?

I don't know what has changed, but after a restart TVH seems to run normally, the content of all windows is shown.
But for some reason the EPG-data is not grabbed by the internal grabber, which has been running successfully a few days ago.
The internal grabber is activated in Channel / EPG --> EPG Grabber modules, all users have executable and read permission for the corresponding tv_grab- and guide.xml-file.
Within the tab Channel / EPG --> EPG Grabber Channels the channels and the corresponding path of the xmltv-data are shown correctly, but I can press as many times as I want to, the column Update (date the EPG data was last updated) stays empty.
The Electronic Program Guide shows all OTA EPG Data, but not a single data from the internal grabber.
Is there a file I can delete like epgdb.v2, but for the data grabbed by the internal grabber ? Or something which allows me to start the grabber manually, some shell command etc.?

I deleted the whole internal grabber and re-installed it, without success.
Then I verified my xmltv-file with 'xmltv --tv_validate_file and indeed the file was corrupt.
That's why TVH wasn't able to import it.
Maybe at least when using the web interface and manually starting the grabber by selecting "Re-run Internal EPG Grabbers", there should pop-up an error dialog box in case TVH can not process the file?

Coming back to my initial question:
Could someone please watch BBC World News or CNN International via 19,2°E-Astra for 1 or 2 minutes and tell me, if the EPG data is displayed?

Astra 19,2
BBC World News Europe HD no EPG
CNN Int. have EPG
BBC World have Spanish EPG
Check EPG languages in general settings

Thank you saen acro.
Until now Language settings contained German and English, so CNN should have worked.
Nevertheless I added Spanish as third language, let's see how it works...
