[SOLVED] Tvheadend no longer working after automatic upgrade to 4.0.8
Added by Jesper Cockx almost 9 years ago
Hi everyone. I have installed tvheadend from http://apt.tvheadend.org/stable/ on Linux Mint 17.1. This was working perfectly on version 3.4, until yesterday. But suddenly my tvheadend has automatically been upgraded to version 4.0.8, and abruptly stopped working. I can still see my DVB-T adapter in the web UI, but all channels are gone. I would just downgrade back to the version that worked for me, but apparently the old .deb files have disappeared from the server. Can anyone help me, either by telling me how I can go back to the old version or how to get the new version to work? Thank you very much for your help.

I seem to have the same problem that is described in this post: https://tvheadend.org/boards/4/topics/19096, but there is no solution there yet.

@Jesper - what tuner? HDHR? If so, it's a black art... you may need to pop onto #hts and see who's there to seek help. If it's a regular tuner, post some screenshots and we'll take it from there...

You need to add some muxes - you could try the predefined list when you added the network, or you need to look up something based on your local transmitter and add that. Once that's there as a "seed", autodiscovery should find the others.
DiBCom 7000s are well supported in the kernel - I don't know if they even need firmware - so there's no immediate reason why it wouldn't work, unless there's some other chippery in this model that your system doesn't support.
What does dmesg say?
EDIT
Forget that bit - "it was working perfectly on 3.4", so clearly your system supports it. It's a config issue, then.

Thanks for the quick answer. I've tried to add some muxes manually (using the frequencies I found at http://www.satbroadcasts.com/DVB-T_transmitters_in_Belgium.html) but no matter which one I try, I get a Scan Result: FAIL (see screenshot).
Here's my dmesg output, if it is still relevant:

Oh, and here are the mux settings.

"Auto" works well for some things, less well for others - the more specific you can be, the better chance of success.
If we take the one in the Gent Belgacom building, for example: http://www.satbroadcasts.com/DVB-T_transmitter_ch_22_Gent_(Belgacom_Gebouw)_in_Belgium.html
Channel width = 8MHz
Modulation = 64 QAM
FEC = 2/3
Guard Interval = 1/4
Try adding at least the channel width (so the tuner knows how far apart the frequencies are) and maybe the modulation.

The dibcom driver require more frequency information.
I have three and AUTO for everything never works) you must set the Bandwidth, Transmission mode and Constellation.

I entered the manual mux settings I found on satbroadcasts.com and now everything is working again! Thank you very much for your help.
