TV Cards over Network
Added by Mytril Goldhand almost 9 years ago
Hello guys,
is it possible to add a tv-card from a System to another System with a tvheadend-Server?
I want to add more tv-Cards to my Server, but i have no slot for another tv-card
So i think i can run an raspberry or similar, to add simply another usb-tv-card.
The only way i found, was to add to the server-configuration an iptv-network and add the ip address of the raspberry with a second tvheadend server. But i can only add the ip adress of any mux or channel.
It is possible to add the ip-address like that you can take all muxes? or do i need to add all muxes and there ip adresses manually? And are there problems with records?

It sounds like you want to look into SAT>IP - on the 'source' system, you can configure it to export a tuner, and then that 'target' can add that as a SAT>IP source and thus see all the muxes. At least, that's how I understand it - not had a chance to play with it myself...

Yes exactly, but does anybody know how to do this?

I think you can use minisatip with your tv tuner. It runs as a satip server ( In my opinion, it seems like a network tuner).
After you set up minisatip, tvheadend will find this minisatip server and recognize it as an adapter input.
I tried it with a DVB-T dongle, it works well.
You can find the minisatip on github. (https://github.com/catalinii/minisatip).

Hallo ro to,
if you want to test the minisatip, i cannot help you, but it is necessary to restart the tvheadend service. The it looks after sat>ip Server...
Thr second possibility is to have two tvheadend servers. Here you have a little manual:
On the sat source:
1. Install tvheadend
2. Login into the tvheadend site with ip:9981
3. Go to Configuration->DVB-Input and look after the tv cards. If there is nothing. You must install the tv card
4. Go to networks and ad a DVB-S network with your favorite satellite and configure Sat-IP Source Number to 1
5. Go back to tv adapters
6. go to the lowest slide, configure the network
7. Go to the next upper slide and enable the tv adapter
8. Go to general and expand the slide sat>it Server
9. Configure a port, and turn exported dvb-s2 tuners to 1
10. Save the configuration
11. Restart tvheadend service (Not necesary)
On the sat>ip receiver:
1. restart tvheadend service
2. Go to Configuration->General
3. Press Discover Sat>IP-servers
4. Go to Tv Adapters, The new sat>ip service is now there
5. Configure the adapter just as a normal tv adapter with a sat network
Have fun

Thank you for the fast answer.
I made a testinstall on Ubuntu 15.10, follow your tutorial, map a fta and a scrambled channel, connect with kodi and the localhost IP to the second tvheadend server, and it works!
So I order my second wetek box and try with four real tuners. I report back.

I received my new box today, updated to OE 6.0.1, installed same tvh version and copied my backup from box one. Everything is working, the new box export both tuner, but only with one network each tuner. My first box export both tuner with both networks, Astra and Hotbird. Another fresh install on the new box gave the same result, very strange. But anyway, I have four running tuner. Thank you.
