4.1.1163 vs 4.0.7 - Doubled CPU load on transcoding

Hi,

I've updated my mature stable 4.0.7 to 4.1.1163 as I've read that there are improvements in transcoding in the 4.2 alpha.

Unfortunately it seems it's the opposite: HD transcoding down to 2MBit for mobile access took around 150-180% CPU for the TVH process (6 VM cores assigned). With 4.1.1163 the same needs around 350%.

I know this is an alpha and things might be broken, but is this a known issue or does this need reporting?

I'd log it as a problem - to my knowledge, the transcoding code hasn't changed, so something else must be in play. It's possibly an ffmpeg issue, I suppose, but could be something else.

I've not seen anyone else mention it.

Nah, it was definitely nothing else running but this single transcoding ...
