Stuttering on every channel

Hi all.

So I have everything setup now with the help from others on here thank you very much.

My next problem I have noticed is that that the picture stutters on every channel on every tuner.

If say football is on when the players are running round it stuters continuous almost like it's missing frames.
It will do this on my localhost and over WiFi somewhere else.

Even when playing using something like VLC?

Also check top for CPU usage.

This is all very much appreciated.

Yes it even does it on vlc and the cpu usage is low on both the server and the devices I have tried it on.

Rob - in the tvheadend web interface, enable debug logging (bottom right, arrows, cog) and see what you're getting there. It'll at least give a clue as to whether it's the signal or not. The other test is simply to record the stream - at the same time if you like - and see whether that stutters on playback; if it does, then it's the signal/processing, if it doesn't, then the stream is likely to be okay.

What are you running tvheadend on? How big, how fast, what sort of discs/memory, what else is happening on it? All might explain what you're seeing, although simply streaming live TV is a pretty lightweight task in all honesty.

I am running tv heahend server on a Intel core 2 duo 2.4ghz 4gb ram and ubuntu server is installed on a 64gb ssd then I have regular 1tb hard drive for the recordings to go to.

I have done a recording and to be honest the stuttering has come out worse, freezing for a few seconds at some points.

I am going to enable debug now.

also I don't have a cog for debug I am running version 4.0.7.

Click the double up arrow in the bottom right - a new panel will appear, and the double up will turn into a double down (to hide the panel again). Next to it is a cog, and clicking that will enable debug logging.

Your box is well up to the task, unless something else is happening at the same time. If recordings are also damaged, then it's a signal/processing issue.
