tvheadend doesn't work
Added by Fux 777 about 9 years ago
Hi folks,
I want to use tvheadend for IPTV, so that I can also easily use the video recording functions in Kodi (with openElec). But I am facing serious problems with it. I can maintain networks and muxes, but tvheadend doesn't make a scan or something like that. For what ever reason this worked in two times. After that I could define the channels and after several tries in Kodi I could access one channel for one hour. The next day nothing worked again.
Having a look in the version I am wondering: "HTS Tvheadend 0.0.0~unknown". Anyone here, who knows the meaning of this information?
Important is to say, that I've installed a special unofficial openelec building, so that my NVMe SSD device is supported. Probably this is reasonable for my problems with tvheadend and the mysterious version?! Do you agree?
Is there a way to install a better tvheadend version using a ZIP file or something like that instead of doing this with the unofficial OpenELEC Add-ons?

Hi again,
In the meantime I tried the Ubuntu variant. Installed on this OS tvh is displaying version "HTS Tvheadend 4.0.5". Also the muxes are working without problems. So my question is, how to get it working on openELEC?

I would presume that the 0.0.0 bit is because of the way in which tvh is built in this OE package - not necessarily related to the SSD support, though, but it could be. I don't suppose it really matters if it doesn't work, other than to try to avoid that version...
You can download other versions from this thread, so maybe try one of those?

(you can just ignore the transcoding support if you don't need it).
All that said, I can't explain your original problem at all. On the surface, it sounds like a driver/firmware issue - except you say you're using IPTV, so there's no tuner involved - and that wouldn't explain intermittent issues anyway...

Hi,
Thank you for your response!
I gave it up and switched the hardware to a Raspberry PI 2 B now. The version of tvh is still 0.0.0, but running without problems.
