Disable authentication

Is it possible to completely remove the authentication?
I've added a superuser username and password at the start and now I have to enter them when connecting from VLC.

Well, the correct way would be to set up an additional ACL rule for your VLC streaming (or other clients) rather than turn off all access control.

You might want to look into the -C and/or --noacl command line options otherwise.
