TVH on Synology - failed install

Added by Nick Askew almost 10 years ago

Hello peeps,

I have a Synology DS211j and tried to install TV Headend last night but it fails to install. I'm getting it from the SynoCommunity via packages.

Am i doing something wrong or does my box just not work with it.

I'm on the latest DSM, all updated as of today.

Cheers!

You'd need to check on the synocommunity site to check that your CPU/architecture is supported, at a guess. However, 'fails to install' doesn't really give a lot to go on... any errors? Anything in syslog? Anything anywhere to tell you what happened or did/did not work as expected?

Hi Prof,

I cant see a way of finding minimum specs on Synocommunity. Not sure how to ask on there either. However i read on a forum somewhere that someone was running a DS210j to TVHeadend.

The error i get is Failed to Install "Tvheadend" . This happens after it's downloaded, i've given is a volume to go to and it's said 'loading' for a bit.

"Failed to install" isn't really helpful, is it...

Architectures supported here:

https://synocommunity.com/package/tvheadend

Your architecture here:

http://forum.synology.com/wiki/index.php/What_kind_of_CPU_does_my_NAS_have

Looks like the 211j and the 210j have the same CPU, though, so something else must be tripping it over. Is there anything in /var/log/syslog.log, /var/log/messages, /var/log/synolog/* or similar?

My Syno box is long since out of action for this kind of thing, so it may be that you need to follow it up on the Synology/synocommunity forums unless someone has a bright idea here.

(As an aside, I found some reference to a trust level that needs to be set to enable third-party installation as of DSM 5.1 - Package Centre -> Settings. Have you enabled that for non-Synology packages?)
