EPG Freesat problems
Added by Bengt Madeberg almost 10 years ago
I have problem with EPG for some channels (HTS Tvheadend 3.9.2212~gb87eb89):
No EPG: E.g. Pick TV, Arise News
Partial EPG (8-12 rows): France 24, Bloomberg
All other channels are fine (BBC, ITV etc), approx 200 rows (one week ahead)
I enabled
UK:Freesat
EIT: DVB Grabber
For my other PC (HTS Tvheadend 3.2.18~g40a8920) I have no issues with France 24 and Bloomberg. For Pick TV and Arise News I have EPG for the current and next program.

All I can say is that I have OpenTV Sky, Freeview, Freesat and EIT enabled (I have DVB-S and DVB-T tuners), and I have 7 days of EPG for Pick (DVB-T) and Pick FSAT (DVB-S) - 233 events on each channel. Arise has 7 days/183 events, FRANCE Eng (presumably how France 24 appears) seems complete, as does Bloomberg. This is on 3.9.2334~g1afee16.
You can:
1. Try a different (more recent) tvh version
2. Stop tvh, delete the epg database, and restart to see if it re-grabs
3. Look at your EPG schedule and see if grabbing more often would help
4. Try enabling the OpenTV module (I don't know why I have it enabled - it's just there, and it's on, and it's not breaking anything, so I've left it)
5. Check that you have the EPG mux enabled (you must have, or you presumably wouldn't get the other channels' EPGs) - 11426H, I believe
6. Try an XMLTV feed
... none of which tell you why it's not working, but might give you somewhere to start looking.

Ok, thanks. I will do some tests. If I do #2, remove the database, will all my upcoming recordings disappear ?
RE: EPG Freesat problems - Added by Prof Yaffle almost 10 years ago
I think that manual recordings should stay - DVR rules will disappear until the EPG repopulates, but then they should be re-created.
If in doubt, simply rename the EPG database file rather than delete it - you can restore it later then if the EPG isn't recreated for some reason. Or, nuclear option, backup up your entire config including rules and upcoming recordings, and then you can restore it if needed - do it as root and preserve all ownership/rights.

Ok. I think I will upgrade to a newer version first. I also have some other strange issues that's related to the EPG, like this one. https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/14804

Pick TV is part of the Sky family, I had to grab EPG from 11778V to fill in Pick.
BBC, ITV and Channel4 & 5 I get by grabbing 11428H.

not sure, but I also had to activate the openTV: Sky UK grabber.

Ok Some updates. Updated to the latest version of Tvh. Added 11778V mux. (Only 11428H before). Enabled openTV: Sky.
Still the same problems. Next I will remove the database...
Edit:
Pick Tv etc finally got EPG, from 11778V I guess. France24, Bloomberg etc still limited EPG..
RE: EPG Freesat problems - Added by Rob vh almost 10 years ago
but do you actually tune to this mux?
go to Configuration - DVB Inputs - Mux schedulers and add a cron entry for this mux, e.g.,
11778V on 28.2E 0 8 * * * 600
RE: EPG Freesat problems - Added by Bengt Madeberg almost 10 years ago
Ok. I didn't tune at all. Just the standard settings under EPG grabber. Now I added cron for 11778 and 11428.

That's suspicious. The opentv muxes should be tuned based on the TSID (transponder id) based on times configured in the open-air-grabbers section. Could you create a new bug with "--trace epggrab, opentv" ? TVH must be compiled using --enable-trace .
