Setting up epg using xmltv with OTA source
Added by george pharos over 13 years ago
First time user, which may explain why I am having problems, but tvheadend works wonderful using OTA. When my Dish contract runs out I am moving to cable and cable cards. The problem I am cureently experiencing is setting up the EPG.
Since I am using OTA I imagine I would setup xmltv, and when I do I select the North American (Data Direct) from the drop down box. A window pops up and asks me to run the foloowing: /usr/bin/tv_grab_na_dd --configure
When I do that I select time zone username and passwd, but I get the following error.
ERROR: Login failure from Schedules Direct. Check user/password or try again later
I never signed up with Schedules Direct so I go to web site. Problem is that it is a 7 day free trial and then a monthly or yearly $$ charge.
I have searched the web and found other EPG sites that do not charge (free).
How do I add an EPG site to the grabber?
Is there some documentation on that? Of course I could be wrong in how to setup the EPG in the first place.
Thanks, and this is a great program.
EDIT: Well I selected North America DirectTV inputed everything and no errors. But it informed me to not forget to add channels. Is there a config file?
It has added channels when I configured tv adatpers, map DVB services to adatpers. It showed all my local channels, of which I can watch. I am just having problems getting EPG to work.

I have the same issue. Have tried the DirecTV, as this seems to be my only choice, I run...
/usr/bin/tv_grab_na_dtv --configure
and enter my location settings. After entering my zip code I get...
"Select the channels that you want to receive data for."
and then back to the prompt. So... I have no idea what to do, where to look, have tried about everything I can think short of possibly screwing something up. Getting someone to answer this type of question has been a bit tough. Is there an IRC channel we can try?

This is more a generic xmltv grabber question that might be better ask in a specific xmltv forum.
