Thoughts on the litle blue arrow on the epg
Added by Latty Jordan about 10 years ago
If you're using the latest builds then you will probably have seen those little blue arrows beside the programme title and channel names on the EPG tab. Click on the programme title and that is filled in the "Search Title ..." box at the top, then filtering kicks in and only programmes with the same title are shown. Click on the Channel name amd only programmes on that particular channel are shown.
I love the concept, but I wish the active spot wasn't so big. Maybe limit it to the arrow itself rather than all the text in that column. F|or every time I've used it the way it was intended there have been a dozen occasions where I really wanted to bring up the programme info box. Maybe it's just because I'm too used to the old way. But surely I'm not alone.

I totaly agree with you! This feature to apply the title to a filter is really nice, but I do mostely like to see the info than aplly that tile into the filter. And on touch screen I do have dificulty to hit it on the right place to get the epg info..

This is why there's now a separate 'i' icon for programme info. I agree that it's not 100% ideal, but I'm not sure how to make it better... I don't think javascript allows you to say "if you've clicked on the left 20% of this field then... otherwise..." (for example), so you might end up with three additional columns in the grid instead, one to filter each of programme name, channel and genre. And that's even more ugly IMO.
Would double-click events work instead? Or even a right-click context menu, perhaps?

And how about switching the functionality? Make an icon to let it aply as filter and leave the default cilck as EPG? I'm not sure if there are such power user prefering it vice versa but for me would this be fine..
