Disable subtitles when using vlc web player?
Added by gary tan about 10 years ago
By default subtitles are showing up when i watch any tvheadend streams through chrome and the vlc web plugin (using windows 7). I've disabled anything i thought could be making them show up but they wont go away. Anyone know how to get them disabled permanently?
thanks

Subtitle -> Sub Track -> Disable should et rid of them.
You can also disable them permanently in Tools -> Preferences

In VLC itself the subtitles are disabled. Its the web player unfortunately that is the issue and doesnt seem to have any settings menu. It also defaults to narrative audio to make matters worse.

i've got chrome to open up the vlc program instead of using the web plugin and this has sorted issue.

Well, I was being stupid enough not to have read your post properly in the first place, but hey - glad you fixed it!
A test on my system appears (I haven't fully proven it) to show that the web plugin follows VLC's options, but I'm not 100% about that. Alternatively, you may be able to use the vlc plugin's API to write a small bit of javascript to switch track or disable subtitles: either run from a file or directly in the address bar.
Or just open VLC as an external player, of course
