PCTV 290e - UK Stocks

Added by Prof Yaffle over 10 years ago

For anyone interested who doesn't want to fight with the August device or risk a 292e that has very nascent driver support... Maplins seems to have a barrage of these in stock still, with them showing as available in all of my local stores. I dropped into one while driving past yesterday and, while untested, the one I picked up most definitely says 290e all over it...

For £69.99 it's a bit of a rip off, I managed to get mine for about £45 on Amazon (a long time ago though)

Probably fair comment, but I'd failed to find anywhere that could reliably send the 290 instead of the 292, so beggars can't be choosers!

Did you get yours recently?

Nope, it has to be at least over a year now.

Apparently the 292e will be supported in 3.16 and is supported in older versions if you use the linuxtv build script.

Appears to be pot luck whether you get a 292e or 290e. Both were on the shelves in Great Portland Street when I checked a week or so ago.

To be honest, now the August T210 is working (albeit with patches that may be difficult to apply on ARM platforms) I'd plump for that. Belling Lee connector, and appears to be more sensitive.
