Continuity error and timeshift
Added by FuN KeY over 10 years ago
I noticed that if timeshift is enabled, but on demand is disabled. Continuity error occurs when watching TV (tested on many channels).
If on demand is enabled, it works fine.
I am using a HVR-930c with DVB-C. I tested with git master & 3.4.27, same error with both builds.
I wanted to disable on demand in order to be able to rewind live TV, since it should be buffered. Is my assumption correct?

Sounds like your system is having trouble keeping up with the input stream when buffering to disk. Probably indicates some underlying problem in the system, since it really should be able to keep up. Some possible improvements have been made in master, so you might find it gets better when you upgrade.
With regard to the on-demand mode, really that's not intended to be the normal case (I only added it as some users specifically requested it) so you're right to assume the non on-demand should work.

Thanks for the answer, a really quick one!
I did try the master, and I haven't noticed any substantial improvements. In my setup tvh should really have plenty of horse power (VM on xeon + SSD).
This is clearly not a priority for me, as timeshifting is a little dodgy currently (with xbmc at least; can't wait for pvr.tvh :)). Tvheadend is really a great piece of software!
