[Solved] Tvheadend suddenly doesn't tune any more

Added by Alen Cani almost 11 years ago

I'm using openelec 3.2.3 fusion build with my AMD E350 platform.
HTS Tvheadend 3.4.27~gfbda802

DVB-T tuner is Gigabyte U8000

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 1044:7002 Chu Yuen Enterprise Co., Ltd Gigabyte U8000 DVB-T tuner

A couple of days ago all channels stoped working, XBMC is complaining that there is no signal.
tvh log:

Jan 30 20:08:38.002 htsp: 127.0.0.1: Welcomed client software: XBMC Media Center (HTSPv8)

Jan 30 20:09:25.259 subscription: "127.0.0.1 [ xbmc | XBMC Media Center ]" unsubscribing from "RTL 2"

I did reset the xbmc databases, even removed the files.
Crated a new tvheadend profile from scratch, scanned for muxes and services. All services are found and mapped, but the signal stregth is 0%.

I thought maybe the old usb adapter finally died but when connected to the laptop it works fine with Windows XP and dvbviewer.

As far as I know, openelec doesn't have any syslog, in dmesg there are entries like this:

[ 33.557827] xc2028 2-0061: Loading firmware for type=D2620 DTV8 (208), id 0000000000000000.

Any ideas?

Googling around suggests that it might be something to do with IR remote control polling? e.g.

http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-media/msg57925.html
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2028101

Some have had success turning the polling off... but not everyone:

echo option dvb-usb disable_rc_polling=1 >> /etc/modprobe.d/options.conf

Did anything change? Any new remote controls, a change of position, something else?

That about IR polling is another issue, my stick worked like a charm with or without the mentioned fix.
What is bothering me, nothing changed.
But there is definitely something wrong with the openelec installation. Tried my old ubuntu 12.04 + xbmc + tvheadend installation (on a usb stick) and it works ok.
Maybe removing tvheadend service and installing again would solve the problem but for some reason OE doesn't let me uninstall tvheadend.
Probably would be less time consuming to reinstall the little bugger from scratch.

EDIT:
Problem solved. Did the hard reset via openelec settings and configured everything anew :-)
Interesting that downgrading or upgrading OE and deleting all tvheadend settings didn't help. I guess there was some problem with some other OE settings on /storage partition.
