Timeshift Buffering
Added by Rachael Bond about 11 years ago
Hi All
I can't find an answer to this question, but I apologise in advance if it's a duplicate
I have TVHeadEnd set to automatically timeshift, but it creates files within the buffer folder approximately every minute. Is there anyway to make it just create one file? As it is as the moment I'm unable to rewind live TV past the start of the current file and I assume that the multiple files in the buffer is the reason for this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
[Edit]
Perhaps I should add my config: XBMC frontend, i3 with 16gb RAM, Ubuntu Raring (64 bit), TV Card: TBS-6280 dual tuner (PCIe connected), tvheadend: version 3.4.27~gfbda802~raring

The multiple files is correct.
However timeshift has never worked all that well with XBMC. It needs significant time/effort and I've been unable to devote any of late.

Thanks for the reply Adam
While I'm glad to know that it's the default behaviour, I don't really understand why it's been coded like this. If the Timeshift function was just treated as a continuous instant recording surely it would then work correctly with XBMC (as well as every other front end) and also have the incidental advantage of allowing live tv programs to be optionally archived?
