Adapter in use by other subscription

Added by Mark Hula over 11 years ago

Hey all,

I get this even though I have the PC nano stick T2 dual receiver. I bought this model specifically because I assumed it could record 2 channels simultaneously!.
Also my HD reception (UK) is unwatchable (transport errors etc.i.e. no picture); though on a very cheap freeview box off the same antenna HD is fine.
Is tvheadend known to have issues with HD (assuming it's not XBMC or something else causing the issue)?.

thanks in advance

Just out of interest, what model is this stick? I didn't know that there was a dual T2 nanostick... the 290e is single-tuner, and that's the only DVB-T2 USB stick I know of. May be my lack of knowledge, but it's worth checking...!

Pants!
I think you are correct!. I probably got confused as 'dual' because it supports DVB-T2 ; even though HD is unwatchable.
Perhaps I thought it could record one SD and one HD simultaneously.
So (basically) I have to watch the program I am recording then? i.e. I can';t watch a different channel to what I am recording?

Will tvheadend work with 2 pc nano sticks? - though I'm not spending anymore cash until HD works on it :-)

Cheers

I think it actually tunes to the mux, so theoretically you could watch and record different channels so long as they're on the same mux - all the HD channels are on one Freeview mux in the UK, though, so it'd be 2xHD or 2xSD. That said, I don't think tvheadend supports this function anyway, and I don't know about other backends, so it's academic to a certain extent; I'm sure I've read somewhere that it's possible to dump the whole mux out to disc and then demux it later, but a second tuner is a lot less hassle.

tvheadend is quite happy with multiple sticks, so I'd see no reason why two of the same would cause a problem. Indeed, since you have an HD-capable stick now, you only really need a cheap SD (DVB-T) stick for the SD signals, and then set the priority of the sticks so the HD one is preferred. That'd leave your SD one free most of the time.

I get perfect HD reception on my PCTV 290e, if that helps (Acer Revo R3600, Ubuntu 11.10/Oneiric, tvheadend 3.5.65~gddc466c-dirty off the Ridge Hill transmitter).

Hi,

Not sure why my HD is unwatchable - just has transport errors etc. etc. all in the log.
I am running the latest tvheadend on Frodo XBMC Ubuntu.

Cheers

I'd guess at connection, aerial, signal strength, etc. - there's nothing in software that should make that difference. If it's writing to the log file, it's not like your hardware is struggling with the HD rendering, which would be the other thing I'd question.

Yeah - this is what I thought.
I actually tried my pc nano stick t2 with tvheadend and xbmc on 3 different linux motherboard/cpu's - SD usable on all ; HD not.
i.e. 3 separate fresh installs!!!

Not sure what else to try! :-(((

Signal too weak? Amplifier? Too strong? Attenuator or splitter? Not sure what else to suggest, other than changing the connectors. There's no immediate reason why one tuner would work and another wouldn't - but the trouble with digital is that it's either there, or it isn't.

I suppose it's always possible that you've got a duff stick, though not likely...

You could try installing Myth or perhaps bypassing tvheadend in some way, at least it'd isolate the problem. And if you've tried three different Linux installations, have you tried Windows? Again, nails the problem down ...

hi all i seem to be having the same problem when recording single shows no issue
but when i go to start the second show which starts half hour later i get adapter is use by other subsciption
im using a kworldub499-2t T09 which shows up in tvheadend as two adapters, but when recording its seems to only use the _1 and completely ignore the second one? is there some config option im missing? or is it just not possible?
