Live TV Not Using CrystalHD Hardware in Apple Tv and XBMC+PVR
Added by Steven Fischer about 13 years ago
Hello,
I'm experiencing very low FPS - 15fps for standard def and about 10fps for HD in XBMC+PVR when using the Tvheadend add-on
I'm using XBMC+PVR on an Apple TV (first generation) with a CrystalHD card and attempting to watch live tv. I'm connecting to a Ubuntu server running Tvheadend with a Hauppauge HVR-1600 tuner.
Some google-fu indicates that the XBMC Tvheadend add-on isn't working with the CrystalHD card due to a codec incompatibility. The posts indicate that Tvheadend uses ff-h264 while other video types support chd-h264 which is compatible with the CrystalHD decoder.
Can anyone offer some guidance on how to work around this? Perhaps I need to install a nightly build of Tvheadend or XBMC?
Thanks for your help
Steven

Tvheadend passes the received data stream unmodified to the frontend. So if there is a codec issue it can not be solved from tvheadend.
So you need to look at XBMC in order to solve this.
