Tvheadend initial scan: no channels AT ALL, w-scan works.

Added by Peter Wriesnik almost 9 years ago

Hi there! I am completely lost with the setup of my DVB-S/S2 card. I own a TBS 6928se, running on an Ubuntu 15.10. The system sees the card, driver modules are loaded and the card works just fine:

dmesg

    Memory at df200000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=1M]
    Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: SAA716x TBS

So far so good. I am running tvheadend: version 4.0.8-3~gc870eb9~trusty, starts just fine and also sees the DVB input. It lists it under /dev/dvb/adapter1.

I then add a Network (Astra 19.2) with the predefined muxes and force scan it, nothing happens.

However, when i run w-scan on the device, i get channels:

How do I get those muxes to run in tvheadend? Help would be really appreciated, I've been trying to get this thing working for days now.

You've enabled and assigned a network to an adapter right?

Can you play the mux? Copy and paste the play link into VLC then watch the output in Tvheadends log (click the bottom bar then click on the cog to enable debug).

What exactly do you want me to copy to VLC? A mux from the w-scan output or the predefined mux in TVheadend?

Hi, I have a very similar problem:
tvheadend 4.0.8~wily ubuntu 15.10 epggrab: Not getting any epg data at all.

I have a TBS5928 adapter USB QBOXS2 which runs perfectly OK on Windows 8.1 attached to the same PC (dual boot with ubuntu)

I have recently configured tvheadend for the first time and can view Astra-28.2E channels OK from the Play button in the configuration->dvb inputs->services tab.
I have checked the EPG configuration and am using EIT only (no internal or external grabbers)

Here's a sample output from syslog:

This is repeating for all the channels similarly.

Does this help. I thought would add my problem to yours here rather than raise a separate one as it seems so similar.

Additional info to above:
I am using DVBViewer on windows8.1. Get full EPG data no problem.

I am on 4.1-1724~g41707e1~trusty version and have 4 dishes with quad LNBs, pointed to different satellites, one being Astra 19.2.
All the other sats/muxes are detected and scanned and work fine except 19.2. This specific one does not have a predefined mux database included recently, not sure if that is the problem.

This issue started to appear after I decided to reinstall the whole system, because of HDD replacement.

Is there any solution to have it working again?

Hello there,
I installed tvheadend 4.0.7 with the osmc App store. I use a WinTV-Duet HD TV-tuner, the firmware is installed and tvheadend recognizes the two adapters.
But all the muxes have a scan "FAIL". I tried a scan with w_scan, it worked. The pre-defined muxes (france) have the same frequencies as those obtained with w_scan.
Does anyone has an idea, please?
