How to update to 4.2
Added by Jacques van Langen almost 9 years ago
Hello,
I am running version 4.0.x. How do I update to 4.2? I am running Ubuntu Trusty server.
I executed apt-get upgrade and apt-get install tvheadend.
Sources.list contains the line: deb https://dl.bintray.com/tvheadend/ubuntu testing main.
Thanks

No 4.2 yet - only 4.1.x, as it's still in development. 4.2 will be the next stable version.

I don't understand your answer. In my question I mentioned that I want to install the testing version of tvheadend. Repository testing main. On the tvheadend website is the following message:
The 4.2 version developement is finished! (4x commentaar)
We successfully finished the 4.2 development pushing over-the-air ATSC EPG code to the main repository. See roadmap.
So I expect to be able to install the testing version 4.2 form the repository.

4.2 will be the next stable release. 4.1 is the development branch for that release.
So, until 4.2 is finished, there are only 4.0.x versions (current stable) and 4.1.x versions (development).
You can check here if you like, as this is the list of packages for all the PPAs.
Now, if you want to update to 4.1.x pre-4.2, that's different... follow the instructions here and select one of the 'master' repositories.

What is ment by: "The 4.2 version developement is finished!" on the tvheadend website under news on the frontpage? Is this a wrong message?

"development finished" <> "fully debugged and ready to ship".
There're still some bugs to be worked out, translation is ongoing, documentation, etc.
So the main development is complete, but it's not 100% ready to release yet.
