How to login first time
Added by Wolle Sat about 9 years ago
Dear folks,
I installed TVHeadend on a DLink 320L NAS.
When I want to start it, I'm asked for username and passwort which I don't have.
I googled that I should start the programm with option -C or -noacl but I don't know how I can do this as I don't have a command line and I do not know Linux.
Just saw in this second that the web page tells me username and passwort (2xadmin).
Maybe helpful for others to know.

Current version for DLINK 320L ? - Added by Wolle Sat about 9 years ago
Hi again,
the version that I installed from a server in Ukraine is v3.4 from August 2014, and it does not find my SAT IP server (Triax 400), although it is visible on my Windows PC or my mobile phone.
On the Ukraine server, there is a different version for every DLINK model - does this mean that the source has to be compiled individually for every model?
Is there a newer version for DLINK 320L available which I can install without any compilation (I do not have any Linux PC) ? And if I need to find someone who can compile a version, how would I make sure that it fits to my NAS version?
Kind regards,
Wolle

All I've found was this: http://dlink.vtverdohleb.org.ua/Add-On/#signin I'm not sure what version of Tvheadend but it should be recent enough (Jul 2015) to support SAT>IP I think. You could contact them & ask for a build though.

that was the page, it says updated Jul 2015, but the version is Aug. 2014.

On the forum on "SAT>IP Config Questions" here at tvheadend.org, I found that I would need at least version 3.9 for SAT->IP, and higher if I want to look at SAT->IP server. The only version I found for DLINK on internet is 3.4, so I wonder how I can get this.
I presume that DLINK is an interesting NAS platform for tvheadend, and if someone in Ukraine already knows how to compile for this platform but does not have time to provide regular updates, maybe the tvheadend team could step in?
From my side, I could either donate money or contribute a description here how I solved issues, if this is interesting.

As suggested by you, I contacted the people from
http://dlink.vtverdohleb.org.ua/Add-On/#signin
and they indeed provided an update (3.9.1084) for TVH backend on DLINK
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=61268.0
Big thanks!
I did not hyet ave the time to test the version on the NAS.
I'm still trying to make it run with TVH backend and frontend and Kodi all running on the same PC (openelec 5.96.5.), but the detection of TV adapters is already not reliable (sometimes they are detected and then disappear from the configuration interface, sometimes they are not detected). I saw several guides for TVH backend installation, but none of them was a simple step-by-step for SAT-IP. I do not manage yet to get muxes for the moment. My SAT IP is Triax TSS400. Inbetween there is a fritzbox router.

You can make Tvheadend load details about your SAT-IP Server by passing the --satip_xml argument and supplying the url to desc.xml for your device, its usually located at http://server:port/desc.xml
You'll need to edit the startup script though (where that is on your systems I don't know, I do not use openelec).

Hi Mark,
thanks for the proposal, which I did not need to implement.
The solution was already posted on tvheadend on this page:
https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/13195?r=13477#message-13477
"I found I needed to restart TVHeadend AFTER the TSS had first booted, but it works fine since then. I couldn't get the multiplexes from within TVHeadend's automatic add to work properly and ended up adding one manually myself and after a successful scan (with network discovery turned on) it was able to add the rest (although there was an issue with DVB-S2 Pilots but the option seems to have vanished since then!)"
You have to add one mux manually, then the others are detected. I can see TV streams via VLC, so I think TVH backend is working on my DLINK 320L NAS.
Unfortunately I now have issues with the TVH client on a freshly set up openelec PC. I enabled the client and put the IP address of the backend. It then showed me a new tab for TV on the main screen. However this tab disappeared later although the client was still enabled. When I try to disable the client, the system freezes.
Crash report TVH client - Added by Wolle Sat about 9 years ago
I re-installed TVH client and it showed some TV channels with TVH backend - great news.
However, after switching off and on again, the same bug happens that I just described:
- no TV item shown in main menu
- uncheck "enable" in System-TV-General => system freeze
This makes the system unusable (I do not have the TV item in the main menu and I can't get it back without re-installation of the whole software).

Hi Mark,
I now figured out that for my SATIP-Server (Triax), the description file is located at "http://192.168.2.98:8000/rootDescr".
I saw on this page
https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/15557
that I should modify a file
/etc/default/tvheadend
and add a line:
TVH_ARGS=" --satip_xml http://192.168.2.98:8000/rootDescr"
However using Putty (SSH) I can't find a folder "default" in "etc" (I'm not experienced with Linux).
I'm using Openelec.
What I tried now is to killall tvheadend and to restart it by
tvheadend -B -C -u root -g video -c /storage/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/
service.multimedia.tvheadend --satip_xml http://192.168.2.98:8000/rootDescr
Is this correct and how can I put it into startup process?
RE: How to login first time - Added by Mark Clarkstone about 9 years ago
Only thing I can find is http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=Autostart.sh
I'm not sure what Openelec does with startup scripts, I think they're read only anyway.
RE: How to login first time - Added by Prof Yaffle about 9 years ago
I believe the tvh service is started via /storage/.kodi/addons/service.multimedia.tvheadend/bin/tvheadend.start - maybe have a look at that and see what that does or what it reference, e.g. if it includes an equivalent 'defaults' file.
Source code is here:
... so, if nothing else, you could simply change lines 66 and 68 to add your other parameter(s). This is likely to be over-written on an upgrade, though, so it'd be worth looking at e.g. the $ADDON_HOME/settings.xml file it references.

This shows how little I know of Openelec xD

Hi again,
thank you for your help so far.
I realised that I had network problems (I have one DSL router in the cellar with WLAN disabled and DHCP enabled and another one with WLAN enabled and DCHP disabled on the first floor).
Now the network issue is fixed I got another problem: the web interface on port 9981 frequently answers to my SYN with RST/ACK. Apparently the backend understands my request to get the web page but actively refuses to set up a TCP connection.
For info: the backend is version 3.9.1084 on a DLINK NAS and I cannot install a more recent version (I would need to create Addons for DLINK).
Question: what could be the reason for the RST?
