tvheadend on synology nas with hauppauge nova t usb
Added by Phil Pugh over 9 years ago
I have managed to get the tuner working on synology video station but want to use tvheadend ideally to stream to kodi installs.
the synology isnt showing any tuners but i assume the driver is available as it works with video station
any advice on how to get this working in tvheadend?

My memory (DSM 4.x) was that video station had to also be running, as that's what loads the kernel modules that tvheadend also needs in order to access the tuners.
Much may have changed, though, you're looking at a couple of years ago now...

Thanks, I just tried that way and still no adapters listed in tvheadend

I can't really comment further, then, I'm afraid - not having a Synology to hand any more!
On a typical Linux system, I'd say that you need to look to log files, see if the /dev/dvb files are being created, see if the tuners are being initialised (should be, if Video Station can use them), see if there's anything in tvh's debug log (web interface, bottom right, arrows, cogs) or in syslog, see if stopping/restarting tvh makes any difference or tells you more, and so on.
If the system can see the tuners then it should tell tvh about them.
