Channel order

Added by Perry Mitchell over 10 years ago

So I've got a TBSDTV MOI tuner box with pre-installed TVH streaming on my network. I've set up TVH with all the channels I need (i.e. I've unticked the 'enable' box on those that I don't want). I've added the 'Freesat' channel numbers.
I'm using several clients, but if we just take one - XBMC 'Gotham' running on Windows - then it is all working fine but I cannot see how I organise the channels into a logical order. One post I saw said that you have to do this in TVH. At the moment XBMC is making up its own order with some unidentified logic!
There is a 'Channel Manager' in XBMC but I cannot find any instructions anywhere on how to use it!

By all means send me to a different Forum if appropriate!

I think you have to tell XBMC to 'use the channel order from backend' once you've assigned numbers to the channels in TVH, IIRC it's an option in the Live TV section in Settings, you may have to reset the database when you've done it.

That's too obvious Mark! I tried that to no avail but I've seen several posts around to say that it doesn't work. FWIW the current order (first 10) that XBMC is using is:
1 BBC One Lon
2 BBC Two Eng
3 ITV
4 ITV HD
5 Ch4 HD
6 Ch 5
7 BBC Alba
8 ITV 2+1
9 BBC Three HD
10 ITV 3+1

My TVH ch numbers (first 10) are:
101 BBC One HD
102 BBC Two HD
103 ITV HD
104 Ch4 HD
105 Ch 5
106 BBC Three HD
107 BBC Four HD
108 BBC One Lon
109 BBC Two Eng
110 BBC ALBA

Any thoughts appreciated.

Ah, That's really strange, I've enabled 'use the channel order from backend' myself and it's working here! (!)

Perry: have you reset the PVR database in XBMC?

RE: Channel order - Added by Perry Mitchell over 10 years ago

Since my earlier post I've found that each time I reboot the computer, then XBMC comes back with a different channel order! It is now using the same range of numbers (101+) as TVH but they are not the same or in the right order. The order it does use seems to have some logic to it (based upon the 'Freesat' list) but not correct.
I'm still awaiting a request on the XBMC Forum for instructions on how to use 'Channel Manager' but nothing yet.

OK - I've hopefully sorted it. I had the EPG Grabber in TVH set to update the Ch numbers. I've unclicked that option and fingers crossed!
Thanks for the advice - appreciated.
