Added by hencha satellite over 10 years ago
Need help buddy .... :D
Before i use raspberry + Technisat DVBS2 USB HD no problem and running good but i can't watch channel MPEG4/HD on TVHeadend 3.4, but for channel MPEG2 running good.
Now i try on my PC install Debian 6 to make better run TVHeadend and can watch channel MPEG4/HD
but the first problem is adapters cant detect my Technisat DVBS2 USB HD, driver already on /lib/firmware. i see tvheadend is version 3.9.542
Thanks b4

You're running a pretty old kernel there, does it have the Technisat driver built-in? You can't just dump a firmware file and expect it to work, it needs drivers and firmware to function. Check dmesg and see http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Technisat_SkyStar_USB_HD
Any reason why you're running oldstable debian?

Both will work equally well the only difference is one is newer.. stick to what you're happy with.
As for codec I'm not sure what you're asking.

I mean video format for MPEG4/HD.
Before i use in Raspian + Technisat DVBS2 USB HD, play channel MPEG2 on my android phone and XBMC channel is running good, but for channel MPEG4/HD can't play it and picture as like as freeze but sound good. That's why i wanna move to PC to make running TVH. So What is need it for decode MPEG4/HD stream and play good as like MPEG2 running good ?
Sorry my English is bad

To decode H.264/HD, you need a reasonably powerful CPU (software decoding) or a GPU that can help out (hardware decoding). It's not a tvheadend issue, as that is simply shifting bytes from one place to another - it's turning those bytes into graphics that's the problem. Most applications will use ffmpeg/libav.
Recent Android devices supporting NEON and the latest XBMC Gotham builds should work. I don't know about the Pi, but I thought it could do it - XBMC 12.3+.
Generally... not sure about Debian, but Ubuntu tends to stick with old versions of software as time goes on, and you need to upgrade manually (add the PPA) or upgrade to a later release to ensure you get the later (arguably 'better') code.
Your alternative is to transcode - read elsewhere as to how to enable that in tvheadend - but that will need a powerful system again.

i tried run TVH on ubuntu but still ch MPEG4/HD can not play on my XBMC,android phone, same like before used Debian,
Is it mean TVH can't decode channel MPEG4/HD ?
