"File missing" error

Added by David Brown over 10 years ago

Newbie to Tvheadend. I have managed to get Channels and epg working and set up a recording. However, it didn't record and under the failed recordings tab I see it with the status of "File missing". If it helps, I'm running this on ubuntu 12.04.4 and the version is 3.6.438 of tvheadend.

The folder I want to save it on should have permissions as it's part of my movies folder. However, I have now just done a chmod 777 on that folder just in case. I'm not recording anything I want to keep at this stage - just getting to know the program.

many thanks

Edit:- supplementary question. How do I see the signal strength of the muxes/channels in this version??

Look in syslog - you'll have some messages around the time the recording should have happened - that might tell you what went wrong. Permissions are a good guess, though.

Signal strength in this version only appears when something's locked to the tuner - so you only see it when you're recording something. I was taking a look at the code to see if I could reinstate it, but my Javascript has a long way to go before I can do that, I fear...!

Thanks for the reply. It was permissions - the stuff I've recorded during the day after chmod 777 on the folder for storage has solved it. The recordings folder is one that Plex looks at, and the recordings have dropped nicely into Plex:) happy boy!
