TVHeadend using DVBSky S952 DVB-S2 Dual Tuner
Added by Anonymous almost 11 years ago
Just bought the DVBSky S952 about 4 days ago.
After building the drivers and installing the firmware, I can see both drivers in the config tab.
My question is about setting up the second tuner, I have managed to get the first one working, but having trouble getting the second to work.
This is how I set up the first tuner.
1) Enabled the Tuner
2) Created a new network using Astra 28.2E
3) Set first tuner using above network.
4) Waited till all muxs have been scanned and services are shown.
This is where, using a single tuner, you can scan for channels, and I did with success.
Now for the second tuner, I did the same as above, using a new network.
TVheadend found the muxs for the second tuner, but no services. Do I use the same network for all tuners? or am I doing something completely wrong.
TL;DR How do I setup TVHeadend for a dual tuner card.

as long as they both point to the same satellite then you choose the same network for both. this way it saves you scanning in the channels twice and saves the hassle of linking the channels of 2+ tuners together as in the old version.

Found my problem, one the cables had detached from the connector at the wall socket.
I restarted from scratch using a single network, and it looks like its going ok thanks.
Another question, how long does it take to update the epg using over the air epg?

You should know the answer to that by now - if you don't have a full EPG yet, something's not working, as it only takes a few minutes to get 120k+ entries on my system. Your tuner needs to be free, though, since it has to tune to the EPG channel.
