Multiseat Linux System + TBS6904 + Tvheadend
Added by Илья Ваганов about 9 years ago
Hello friends! I have multiseat HTPC system with 3 independent video card for each user, with 3 XBMC (KODI) instances. Question is whether to run a bunch of TVheadend + TBS6904 for each user independently?
Thanks for your answers in advance!

If I understand you correctly - you want to 'lock' each user to one TBS card under a shared tvheadend instance, yes?
I guess you could do it by
- defining three networks, all of the same type
- associated each one with a different tuner card
- scan for services, map them to channels - do not merge same name
- tag all of the channels on each network with a different tag
- define three users that then only have access to one of these tags
- configure the three Kodi instances to log in as each of these users
... and that should give you a unique set of channels per card, accessible only to the user logging in that has access to the tags associated with those channels.
You can also then still use the webUI to record anything from anywhere, so long as you're logging in as a user with acess to everything, e.g. the superuser or a user with no channel tags.
I think...

Yes, i want to 'lock' each user to one TBS card under a shared tvheadend instance. Or multiple tvheadend instance for each user.

Then try it as above. I can't immediately think of a different way to do it - certainly nothing as simple.
