Sorting of recordings in xbmc.
Added by J M over 10 years ago
Hi,
I have an issue with the sorting of my tv recordings in xbmc. Default sorting is by date. And that is working fine. And when I change it to sorting by name: everything is sorted by name. Fine so far but when I change it back to sorting by date then it's first sorted by name and then by date. Latest recording will not appear on top. What am I doing wrong?
PVR is tvheadend 3.9.470~g6482d33~saucy on ubuntu 13.10 server and XBMC Gotham beta 4 via openelec. Tried to remove/disable pvr addon or clear tv database but it doesn't help. Dates and the names of the recordings are fine and not changed, only the sorting in XBMC doesnt seem to be fine.
Thanks,
Jeroen

I'm being dumb... I just went to check/replicate this, but I can't for the life of me find any kind of date/name sort option: not in the recording list, not in the addon config, not in Live TV settings.
The only place I know of where you have these sorting options is in Files view. So where are you looking?

in XBMC go to: live tv, recordings, right mouse click or <c> context menu and there is "sort by name" or date.
Maybe related?: Recordings that I have deleted from the command line are coming back next day in XMBC. But it's in fact a new recording. So two recordings are showing up in XBMC and tvheadend webgui, only one is showing up in the tvheadend system recording path? Is something corrupt?
thanks

All sounds very odd. I've just tested it on XBMC 13B3 on Win8 connecting to 3.9.438~gd328f74 and sorting seems to work as I'd expect - if sorted by date and I select "name", it re-sorts; select "date" and it returns to the original sort order; select "date" again and it reverses the sort order; and so on.
I've also never seen the duplication you speak of... I routinely delete recordings from the command line, and tvheadend moves them to the "Failed Recordings" tab with a status of "File Missing". They've never come back again.
I believe (I could check, but not now) that tvheadend keeps track of individual recordings through the dvb eid (or maybe some hash of this and other parameters). If you look in TVH_USER/.hts/tvheadend/dvr/log you'll see all the log files for all your recordings. Have a look and see if they've got the same identifier for some reason - that's my initial guess.
You could also just reset the PVR database in XBMC and see what comes back - although if you've got two recordings showing up in the webUI then I suspect XBMC is innocent.

About the sorting: I have removed the TV*.db Epg*.db Textures*.db and ViewModes*.db in XBMC and sorting on date is ok now. But when I change the sorting to name and then back to date: same issue occurs.
About the duplication: i have removed all duplicates in 'finished recordings' tvheadend tab.
And ... I don't see any duplicates in the eid:
/home/hts/.hts/tvheadend/dvr/log# cat * | grep eid

Let's see what it does with upcoming recordings.
I removed all recordings in the "failed recordings" tvheadend tab too ... I think that's not an issue or do I have to clean anything else? Next time I will leave them there.
Thanks!
